Making a Perfect Study Time Table
In this blog, I will be discussing about how a perfect study time table is made and the importance of having a time table as a student. Let's get started.
Why you need a time table?
- Establish an effective study routine.
- Prepare your sessions accordingly.
- Set achievable goals.
- Be accountable for your deadlines.
- Complete the tasks without delay.
- Avoid stress and last-minute panic situations
Key Points for making a Perfect Time Table
- Get an idea of your current schedule.
- How much time do you spend in your coaching institute or the school classes?
- How much time is available after that?
- What all extra activities you do throughout that are not as important as the time they take?
- How much time you spend in sports or health activities?
- What are the activities that can be limited or reduced for this time period?
- Set your Goals.
- The goals should be achievable. Setting the goals too high will not only have an impact on your time table but will also put a lot of pressure on your mind which will eventually you feel depressed in long term.
- Decide the minimum number of seating hours you are ready to dedicate to your goal. For example: For achieving a rank under 1000 in JEE ADVANCED I will be giving minimum 5 hours after the coaching to my self study. It can be more than 5 hours but not less.
- Set your Deadlines.
- Get your Priorities right.
- Constant reminders.
- Schedule Time for breaks.
- Check your Progress.
- Stick to your schedule.
Before jumping into making a time table, it's important to know what exactly is going on throughout the day in your life. Get an idea of the schedule you follow at the moment.
While assessing your current schedule, keep these points in mind:
The most important part while making a time table is knowing your exact goals. For achieving something in life, you always need to know your exact destination. Setting a goal will always make you realize the amount of efforts your are putting right now and the amount actually required.
Points to keep in mind while setting goals:
The deadlines are a constant reminder in any field. They keep reminding you your final goal as well as the time left for you to accomplish it. So, before allotting time or days to your tasks, set a deadline for those tasks. Choose an appropriate deadline. The deadline should neither be too close nor too much for particular task. While setting the deadlines, keep in mind the events that are already in your schedule, the events which aren't related to your goals but are inevitable.
We know that these are the tasks that we have to complete by the end of this week or this month but very few of us try to identify the priorities of the tasks. Which tasks are more important and have to be completed without an excuse.
To get this thing right. You can always prioritize or rate the tasks according to their importance. For example: You can use the rating scale of "1-5" in which "1" represent the tasks that are least important and "5" represent the tasks that are of utmost importance.
This thing may not sound very important but will actually help you progress in the areas that are weak and need to be addressed more than others.
There are 2 ways in which you can constantly keep reminding yourself your goals. Keep them right in front of you. You can either do it in a physical way or the digital way. Write a weekly timetable on a piece of paper or print it out and attach the time table to a place where you can constantly have a look at it, preferably, on a study table. If you want the schedule to be in your access the whole day, you can prepare a schedule on your phone and save it.
Both ways have their own benefits. Choose whichever suits you the best.
Breaks are an important part of a schedule as they help prevent stagnation in progress. Evenn machines need break after performing for a time, we are still humans. Schedule the small breaks you need between your study sessions. These breaks will prevent you from the boredom.
Check the progress you made in a month. Compare it with the estimated progress, if its in terms with the estimated one, continue with the timetable. If the progress is not satisfactory, you need to make changes in the timetable.
Making a schedule and following it are 2 different things. Most of the time people make an appealing schedule but fail to stick to it. A little deviation is acceptable but don't make it a habit. For example: You have decided that you will be getting up at 6 o'clock in the morning but one day you got up at 7 o'clock. If you keep doing this every time, your schedule will surely become worthless in a couple of days. Try not to deviate from the schedule. Even if you fail one day, make sure to rise again on the next day.
The people who make progress are the one who fail one day and rise again the other day without quitting.
I hope these points will help you in preparing a perfect timetable. Keep progressing and do well in your life.

First of all, don't be so tensed. This is a phase and everything will be fine.
DeleteSee, it doesn't matter from where you study. From coaching, youtube, study materials of coaching, the books only or whichever source. The main thing is having a plan. I have recently posted on "Final weeks preparation strategy." Go through the post once. And all you need is a determination. Plan yourself according to the days left. Don't try to cover everything. Try to cover the portion you can master. It's better to know 70% of your syllabus with a good level of understanding tham knowing 90% of syllabus with less understanding. You can also go through my post "How I made it to IIT", I too didn't went to coaching for a long time... It was mostly self study. So, just plan and start working without a delay.
All the best

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that and all the best!
DeleteWould you suggest me that how to start preparation for the May Session please....
DeleteI mean from where,i.e., study materials and what should I do now for getting good marks in jee mains....
Plzz help me bruh....
See, if you have joined any coaching. The material from the coaching will help a lot. Finish the topics and the questions from the sheets and prepare yourself for the exams. You must be having some books too... Find the topics that are not well prepared from your side... Prioritize them on the basis of the importance in JEE main exam and start practicing the problems. But 10 days before exam just keep in mind that the time for learning something new is gone.... The time is to strengthen the known topics and work accordingly.
DeleteWhile all this is correct. Time tables are must for any exam or anything to achieve. It mainly depends on how sincerely you follow. By reading this post you may stick to the time table for few days but in the end you are human and I bet you will stop following time tables after few days. If the above sentence is wrong for you then you're a sincere student. After all much depends on sincerity.
